Guidance Curriculum
The guidance curriculum provides structured lessons that help students grow academically, socially, and personally. It supports the development of critical thinking, problem-solving, and positive behavior. Lessons are taught in units using differentiated activities for groups of all sizes and grade levels.
Responsive Service
Responsive services provide support to students in times of need through prevention, remediation, and crisis intervention. Prevention focuses on teaching skills to help students handle challenges before they become serious problems. Remediation helps students resolve issues after they occur. Crisis intervention involves immediate action in high-risk situations that affect a student’s well-being or learning. Counselors may also consult with teachers, parents, and others or refer students to community resources when additional help is needed.
Individual Planning
The purpose of individual planning is to help students set and achieve academic, career, personal, and social goals. Counselors guide students in understanding their progress, considering their unique needs and circumstances, and developing realistic, attainable plans for success.
System Support
System support is the foundation of the school counseling program. It includes program management and support services that ensure all counseling activities are organized and effective. Counselors plan, implement, and evaluate their programs to improve services. They also collaborate with staff, families, and community resources to support students’ academic, career, personal, and social development.
